We’ve seen it on television. A heel breaks off a woman’s shoe and how does she deal with it? She pops a magical candy into her mouth, becomes empowered, then breaks off the other heel and keeps on walking confidently toward her job interview. And she still gets the job. Can it be that easy?
What are your options when a heel breaks in real life? It’s going to take more than a Mentos or a Lifesaver candy. If you find yourself in this predicament, don’t stress out. You have a few options:
1. Go back home and put on another pair of shoes. Duh.
2. If you are near a mall, buy a new pair. This option is better.
3. Go to a shoe repair shop. These shops may be few and far between nowadays, but if you find one, the crotchety old European guy can fix it while you wait. In the meantime, get an egg cream from the old-fashioned soda fountain next door.
4. Fix it yourself! Try an adhesive (depending on the material of your shoe) like Shoe Goo, Elmer’s Carpenter’s Wood Glue, Barge’s All-Purpose Cement. These may require overnight bonding time. However, if you don’t have any time to waste or wait, use Instant Krazy Glue.
Now knock ‘em dead at that interview!
