Some people wear what you might expect. A well-dressed man wears shiny dress shoes, the only shiny pair I’ve seen. The shoeshine boy hasn’t been too busy lately. You see the whole spectrum of shoe styles here. A man just walked by in loafers without socks. A woman wearing a pink sweater, boring white tennis shoes and track pants with a camouflaged side stripe criticizes another for committing a fashion faux pas. It was a textbook case of the pot calling the kettle black. Her quiet husband, in matching track pants and equally boring white tennies, is guilty by association. A woman in jeans wears nice black suede pumps. I see a woman in black pants with brown suede heels, plenty of other sneakers, Vans, and flip-flops. Interestingly but not surprisingly, the fancier shoes here belong to the jetsetters going to Las Vegas. I’m going to a laid back tumbleweed town in Arizona so I am wearing Velcro Skechers. They’re casual and easy to remove for the TSA to examine. A woman in black pumps and white stockings looks like she is from Japan. There’s one pair of Crocs. A man in a Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles t-shirt wears brown suede adidas shoes. I wonder where he’s going, all dressed to impress. Enough shoe gazing for now, it’s time to board my plane.
