Crocs Cayman Clog

CrocsI’d heard a lot about these clog-sandal thingies from Crocs, but I must admit that I was pretty shocked when I first saw them just how, well… FUGLY they looked. Excuse my french.

Pictured is their most popular model called the Cayman. Amphibious though they may be, they sure look strange… I mean I’m used to the tabis (Japanese-style rubber shoes) that are used for climbing slippery rocks. But the Crocs are shaped more like clogs than slip on shoes, and have these weird looking holes in the front. You know what they make them look like? The logo for the Mighty Ducks, haha!

But anyhow, these are supposed to be made for water-sports enthusiasts and beach hikers. The interesting looking “ports” in the front and top are meant to be a sort of ventilation system that lets water and air through, letting your foot breathe while still protecting it. For shoes that are worn frequently where there’s a lot of water this kind of thing is probably pretty important.

The clog also has arch support as well as a back strap to help keep it on. Here’s some information about the material used:

The special Patented Closed Cell Resin (PCCR) warms and softens with your body heat and molds to your feet. The European styling of the orthotic heel, built-in arch support, and tarsal bar position your feet for ultimate foot comfort and health. Because the resin is closed cell, it is anti-microbial in nature. This means that it is resistant to the bacteria and fungus that cause shoe and foot odor.

I dunno… I’m still a little skeptical about them. It does sound like there has been a lot of thought put into the Cayman Crocs shoe. Their site says that they are very “versatile” shoes that you can just wear casually. Well, I highly doubt you’ll catch me wearing these to a meeting…

Though they don’t look like your normal shoes, they are really funky, colourful and most of all, comfortable, you should give them a go…
