GPS Shoes
We’ve heard the idea of “GPS Shoes” being bandied about lately, with the most recent being Issac Daniel’s Quantum Satellite Technology enhanced sneakers which are shown in the photo here. While privacy advocates are sure to be twitching at this latest innovation, the embedded chips that go in these shoes will allow the wearer’s position to be determined anywhere in the world.
The shoe works by transmitting GPS information wirelessly once a button on the shoe is pressed. In the case of parents looking for lost children, they can remotely activate the shoe to transmit data in which case the shoe will continue to transmit until the batteries run out.
Adult versions of the shoes will be available next month starting around $325 and kids versions should be available soon after that. In case you’re wondering, the current models don’t allow the chip to be removed and implanted in another GPS model. Which sort of sucks for kids who quickly outgrow pairs… however, they’re working to make the electronics modules moveable in the future.
