Gravity Defyer
Sometimes a picture is worth a billion words.
I hesitated about posting this for a split second. But the sharply dressed dude in the photo who seems to have confused going to work with ET flying across a full moon looked so darn HAPPY that I figured there must be something to put that spring in his step.
Well, apparently he looks so happy because he’s wearing Gravity Defyer shoes. I think we’ve posted about shoes that go “boing” before, but the campy ad persuaded me to bring these to your attention. These dress shoes bring new meaning to the term “spring forward”, with their advanced shock absorption technology. The article describing it said that the material used was developed by scientists interested in shock absorption for buildings to withstand earthquakes.
The shoes won’t actually fly you to the moon like the ad shows, but they’re supposed to magically cause you to have a “more active lifestyle”, appear 2 inches taller, ease joint pain and pressure to the spine and of course “look like a million dollars. Well, since Mr. Fly-by-Night does look like a million bucks I think I have to agree. I could also use that 2 inches of extra height…
The way they praise the shoe is pretty funny. My favorite quote:
“Your entire body will receive an energy burst when you slip on the Gravity Defyer Shoes because your joints and spine will no longer feel the full impact of your high impact life.”
Actually, a lot of people actually do say it makes you feel like you’re flying. Or, some say it makes you feel like a kangaroo. Which might be nice, because I could use that extra cargo space in my belly.
According to the picture at right there seems to be THREE springs in the shoe instead of one - two smaller ones and a large spring. I was surprised that the spring is quite small - a 1/8 inch shock absorber. But then, I guess the heel might have to be overly tall (maybe they should try it in wedges) in order to contain a larger spring.
I’m debating whether I should get these so I can dunk on unsuspecting co-workers…

What a great use of technology. Why don’t more scientists get involved in shoe design?

On their site there is a section called “Shoes for Women” but it is currently a “Coming Soon”. So you will have to wait a bit to fly like ET….

I’ve always had problems with pain in my heels, this is the first pair of shoes that I have worn PAIN-FREE, and they look good! I recommend them to everyone I know.

Gadget Universe has sports shoes for women. I will be buying
them soon.
My husband has had a pair of Gravity Defyers for several months.
I noticed his grouchiness seemed to disappear overnight. He has
definitely been a “happier” camper. (My observation…he would
probably not agree.). He has worn the shoes a lot…and they seem to
be well made and not wearing out significantly either. Look nice with
his business attire. He is already 6 feet, but now appears 6′2. As I am
tall, its a nice feeling for me as well. These are really wonderful shoes.

I ordered my Gravitydefyer’s through the Skymall. I was very reluctant to buy shoes without trying them on or seeing them. I was not disapointed, they look great and they are very comfortable. If I have anything negative to say it would be that the leather doesn’t shine as well as other shoes I own. I don’t know why though.
