iShoe Insole
Ok, I have to admit that I’m as tired as you are about hearing about iPhone this and iPod that - not to mention, iSmorgabord, iYogaMat and iSnowcone. We get the picture.
Still, there’s an interesting shoe product in the works. You may remember earlier the Nike / iPod training system. This is also a high-tech gadget, but to me it feels like it might be of good use. Researchers and grad students are working on the iShoe Insole which will help to sense how well a person is balancing. Obviously, this’ll be good to warn doctors for elderly people whether or not they may be susceptible to a damaging fall.
The product was originally developed to help astronauts regain their balance after so long in Zero G. The sole, which can be slipped into any shoe, works by recording pressure points which can later be used to help identify potential balance issues. Hm… I wonder if this will help me out training for that triple full dismount off the balance beam.
