Whenever I see the brand “Keds,” I think of those white sneakers with little blue tabs on the heel. Classy and comfortable, but a bit lacking in trend or style.

Imagine my surprise when I was flipping through some magazines during a salon visit and saw Mischa Barton (of “The O.C.” fame) wearing these - Knack Floral Skimmers by Keds. Inspired by vintage Keds from the 1940’s and 1950’s and redesigned for today, these skimmers are super stylish and cute. The vintage floral print appealed to the nerdy designer in me, the bright colors appealed to the kid in me, and since they’re made by Keds, they’ve got to be comfortable, right?

Well, not exactly. These skimmers, although really stylish, are not exactly comfortable. The canvas was so tough that I had to put bandaids on my heels, and there isn’t much cushioning on the sole. Cute, but I wouldn’t walk a long distance in these. I’m sure they’ll get a bit more comfortable after I wear them for a while, but for now, these are on the shelf with the rest of the “occassionally wear” shoes.
