Nike Apple iPod Training Shoe System
I suffer from the common problem that the older I get, the stupider I become and consequently the smarter my shoes get. Well, it turns out Nike and Ipod are accelerating that process quite nicely with the introduction of their Nike + iPod Sport Kit. This was pretty big news as the two heavy hitter companies have a recent pop culture track record to die for.
The new system is meant to help runners calculate and track fitness data by transmitting it via a wireless system. The kit itself (available in 2 months) will cost $29 and comes with a sensor that you insert inside special Nike shoes and a wireless receiver that you connect to an Apple iPod Nano to receive the data. If you’re wondering who in the world would want such a device … try none other than multiple Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong who is endorsing the shoe.
What’s nice about the system is that you can either have the data and calculations read back to you via you iPod headphones, or you can sync up the iPod with your computer and read it on screen. You can also have the data automatically uploaded and stored in a “personal runner’s account” at a special Nike website for that purpose.
The first of the Nike shoes that will be compatible with the Nike + iPod Sport Kit will be the Nike+ Air Zoom Moire shoes which will retail for $100.
