Shoes Get Own Zip Code

Yep. This would make a great April’s Fools joke or post on The Onion, wouldn’t it? The problem is that it’s true. In a publicity stunt move that’s sure to set other designer shoe outlets scrambling to suck up to the post office, Saks Fifth Avenue opened their new shoe department that which is so big that the floor warranted its own postal zip code, 10022-SHOE. Naturally, they didn’t somehow buy up the ENTIRE “10022″ code - it’s only the extra 4 characters at the end that differentiate it. But it’s funny to think that the 8th floor of the building gets its own designation.
Besides the nearly 100,000 pairs of high-end designer shoes (most of which START in the $300-400 range), the 10,000 sq ft. floor also features its own express elevator, gigantic fitting room, a VIP shopping room (no word which celebrities will be caught using it), a shoe repair area and two cafes. Notably, since the store only specializes in designer shoes they don’t have the largest shoe collection around - it’s said Macy’s is twice as large because they focus on non-designer shoes as well. But Macy’s doesn’t have their own zip code, do they?

I think shoes all over the world ought to have their own zip code. What could be more important than shoes? Except maybe the bag and yes the coat of course.
