Shoe Construction Shop

Shoe -n- Tell Morgan MillerI came across an interesting article about a shoe designer boutique that’s taking “shoes your way” to a new level. Morgan Miller’s new store in South Beach, FL lets consumers customize their own shoes by choosing among a wide assortment of components.

I was thinking that the process might be too slow for a retail store, but in fact the entire process from start to finish takes no more than 30 minutes to cobble together. You basically pick out a shoe “base” (i.e. platform, heel) and then go for a strap to hold it together. You finish it off by choosing from over 100 different optional accessories including various crystals and chain. Then they measure your feet and put the cobblers to work creating your masterpiece.

All of the strap and buckle options are actually attached by velcro on a wall so you can play around with your choices, instead of flipping through a booklet. They have exotics for the straps like ostrich, alligator, leopard-print as well as metallic and patent leather.

If you’ve ever wanted to indulge you inner shoe designer, this might be right up your alley.
