Propelling myself further into geekdom come, I would now like to talk about a movie near and dear to my heart: Tron. Oh, it is not enough to have a sleeping bag festooned with Star Wars characters (yes, guilty). No, you need to have some Tron Shoes man.

Made in the early 80s, the movie Tron introduced the world to previously unknown “computer generated graphics” (though the film had only 30 minutes of it, which is a lot less than most people think is in the film). With shades of 2001 and Fantastic Voyage, the film revolves around a “Master Control Program” that pits “programs” against each other in a series of games similar to Jai-Alai and Snake. There was even an arcade video game based around the film.

For fans of the movie, nothing but these these Tron-themed Stan Smith Comfort sneakers from adidas will do. The shoe features the MCP on the footbed and Tron on the tongue of the shoe. I’m not such a big fan of the velcro straps, nor the light blue colored sole… but come on, it’s TRON! This shoe will go nicely with my signed Syd Mead photo…
